Will 2014 Be The Year You Succeed As A Writer?

Some people are talented and disciplined and manage to create quality works which become publishing successes. Many of us languish. My colleague Shawn Hansen has a super duper special price on this brand NEW writers course – it is fully a 12 month program with resources, support, techniques, challenges and more. Seriously, if you can’t succeed as a writer with the help… Read More »Will 2014 Be The Year You Succeed As A Writer?

      Using Evernote

I haven’t used Evernote as much as I want but on my journey to optimising my cloud based road warrior scenario I found a few things that Evernote can be used for:

        1. capturing details of business cards – scan or grab image or note text details
        2. record receipts for expenses and tracking
        3. trap travel plans and itineraries, accommodation, maps etc
        4. books I want to read – one day!
        5. health insurance and medical reminders
        6. gift ideas I spot around
        7. client documents i might need
        8. pdf books I may want to read in ‘dead’ time eg at airports
        9. projects I’m working on and research I find related to them
        10. official documents eg domain name registration dates etc

Do You Know Your Target Market?

When I mentor new business start-ups, one thing always catches my attention. Newbies often know their product or service intimately. They usually recognise what they know and don’t know. What they normally ignore is whom they are selling to. If they do know whom they are selling to, often they’ve done no valid research on what that customer base needs or wants or prefers. Richard Branson gets the importance of this. He may not know his products or services deeply. He may nit know operationally how they run day-to-day. What he does though is to talk with end-users, customers, clients,… Read More »Do You Know Your Target Market?

            Want to Increase Business?

There are FIVE measures that you need to know in your business, according to Brad Sugars’ Action Coach model:

              1. #Leads
              2. Conversion Rate
              3. Average Sale Value
              4. #Sales per Customer
              5. Profit Margin

Many people I consult with are not able to tell me most of these numbers. That’s scary. No matter what business you run, you need to know the numbers and understand their relationships and impact. Never rely on others to totally look after your finances and never relinquish responsibility for knowing what those numbers are and how they are arrived at. I’ve worked with one woman running $750million dollar business who had teams of people in Finance – the CEO ALWAYS knew her key numbers and if any were under-par she would be asking short and sharp questions!
