Just Do It: Make a Product

It wasn’t that difficult, after all.

Facing a four and a half hour drive during the day annoys me.

Not the driving itself: the lack of productivity involved is what gets me. There’s not a lot you can do when your hands are glued to the steering wheel and you need to be alert and focused.

      Or is there?

About an hour into the drive, when I’d exhausted the phone calls I needed to make (thank you Siri!), it struck me…

I’d seen a video by Peng Joon who was tied to his car for an hour or so driving to a conference. So he rigged up his equipment and punched out a one hour video during the drive.

Inspired by that, I plugged my iPhone into the phone holder on the windscreen, clicked on the video and switched the lens to record from the front.

      Beautiful!

I was now in production mode!

      Plan Your Business Marketing

Marketing is something we know we need to do but sometimes it falls behind all the other stuff, like tidying up the website, getting sales material written, blogging, preparing content etc. I must have reviewed and copied and downloaded a hundred different marketing plans and I’ve used (and taught) quite a few. But for simplicity, it’s hard to go past Paula Stafford’s, reproduced here: “Here’s my really simple marketing plan. 1. Create your product or service. 2. Be friendly to people and socialize. 3. Blog about your product or service. 4. Get on Twitter and Facebook. Talk about you, your product and… Read More »Plan Your Business Marketing

Creating a Product in 4 Hours or less

Creating product for the web is really a heap easier than people think. Fear is what stops most. Counter fear with action! Just start and you’ll find it almost creates itself once you get going. Caleb learnt lots of good techniques from Jason Fladlien and shares his methods here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=cylMlZ7bzNI Which one thing will you do right now to implement this information? 2013 – a Whole New Year

            Wow.

Did 2012 blitz past or what?

This is now the time of year we’re supposed to sit back, take stock, revel in our accomplishments and reflect on what could be better.

But who has time for that?!?

It’s just rush, rush, rush … at least at my house it is.

Yet it is necessary to review and plan ahead so we don’t end up next year in much the same place.

So, before the New Year hits, what one thing could you focus in this coming year to direct your efforts?

            For me, it’s actually FOCUS.

If I look back over 2012 I can see I started lots of projects but few are completed and making money. I can be easily distracted – by anything really, but especially checking email, surfing the web for even more information, getting caught up on forums, and switching between activities and projects.

So this year my one question I’ll keep asking myselfRead More »2013 – a Whole New Year

            Are You Testing Price Sensitivity?

Another recent tip from Ryan Deiss. He ad his team checked the price sensitivity of on of their products. They tested the product sales at $197 and at $97. They found that they had a 3 times better conversion at the lower price. More interestingly, they then tested $197 against 2 payments of $97. Again they found the payment plan outranked sales for the full price by a factor of 3! That’s pretty interesting stuff. So test your product pricing. If you’re offering $97 try two payment of $47 instead. If you;re charging $97, test another price point. In these… Read More »Are You Testing Price Sensitivity?
