Number 1 – it provides content that is fresh for your website, and, 2 it brings people from FB from your site and vice versa.

At least that was an objective I had in mind. So today I played around with the Custom Facebook Feed plugin.

What I liked about it was that there was no mucking about. All you need to do is install it, add your page/group ID, decide where you want the feed to display, plug in the shortcode and away you go.

I tried it out on a Group feed.

Note – Custom Facebook Feed will only display a feed from a PUBLIC Group or Page. That is in accordance with Facebook’s TOS.

You cannot display your profile either. If you use that as the setting, it will just give you a link to your profile page. Not much point really.

One thing that was disappointing for me when testing on a Public Group feed was that the only clickable linking in the post feed to your Facebook source was to the author or that person’s avatar. In other words, you were unable to direct a person back to your Facebook Group or Page. Oh and any attachments did not carry over to the post on your website either.

There is an upgrade facility which allows you greater customisation of the plugin with a lot more flexibility.

For my purposes, the plugin did not suit. For others, it may well be fit for purpose. It’s certainly worth trying out. In fact before downloading and installing you can test it out on the developer’s website –

https://smashballoon.com/custom-facebook-feed/demo/

It’s a great tool and I will keep looking and testing.

Getting your Facebook posts to show up in WordPress is highly useful.
