Everyone loves free.<\/p>\n

We all want to get something for nothing.<\/p>\n

Funnily enough, there is a lot you can<\/strong> get for free.\u00a0And\u00a0that is especially useful when you are starting your online business on a shoestring. As you gain more experience and\u00a0funds\u00a0you can upgrade to even better products if they suit your need. In the meantime, if you use a free or open-source\u00a0product, be sure to make a\u00a0contribution\u00a0or donation \u00a0–\u00a0whatever\u00a0you can afford.<\/p>\n

FREE HTML EDITORS – WEB PAGES<\/h1>\n

\"kompozer,<\/a>Kompozer <\/a><\/strong>is open source and I use it all the time. It is quick and easy but has a bucket load of functions. I rarely have any issues with it and it renders my pages fine.<\/p>\n

I have also used Trellian <\/a><\/strong>and CoffeeCup <\/a><\/strong>– both are free as well. But for me, I find Kompozer <\/a>unbloated and fast in comparison. You may prefer the others. All of them have been around for years.<\/p>\n

FREE FTP PROGRAM<\/h1>\n

\"free<\/a>CoreFTP<\/a><\/strong> is what I’ve used for years. It’s not flash but gee it works for me. It’s easy to use, quick and I can set up lots of ftp access and back them up easily too. There are fancier, more popular ones around but this is great.<\/p>\n

You could also try FileZilla <\/a><\/strong>– it’s popular but I didn’t like it as much as I like CoreFTP<\/a>. Really, it’s about what you get used to using – many are good.<\/p>\n

FREE KEYWORD RESEARCH<\/h1>\n

\"GoogleKeywordTool\"<\/a>When it comes to researching Keywords, there’s a lot to learn. Google makes its Adwords tool available for all. The\u00a0Google\u00a0Keyword Tool <\/a><\/strong>is useful as a starting point although it’s only one of many tools in your arsenal. Step up to paid tools when you can.<\/p>\n

On the\u00a0basis\u00a0you can’t have too many keyword tools, another great free one is Traffic Travis<\/a><\/strong>. You get more than one tool for free in this suite and it’s a great way to learn about SEO and Keywords at no cost but your time.<\/p>\n

FREE FILE ARCHIVER (UNZIP TOOL)<\/h1>\n

\"free<\/a>\u00a07ZIP<\/a><\/strong> is my tool of choice. I find it handles nearly any file I throw at it to zip or unzip. It does zip<\/em> and rar<\/em> which are the 2 most common and more. Nothing flash about it, it just does what it says on the lid, and does it well.<\/p>\n

You could also look up a range of others. \u00a0IZArc <\/a><\/strong>is pretty good – I like the way it automatically opens the archive so you can see what’s in it.<\/p>\n

FREE IMAGE EDITOR<\/h1>\n

\"free<\/a>If you had the money you’d buy\u00a0something\u00a0like Adobe Photoshop. If you don’t, you get your hands on GIMP<\/a>. It’s the poor-man’s Photoshop but powerful enough for anyone. Manipulate or create images at will.<\/p>\n

I’ve heard PhotoScape<\/a>\u00a0is an alternative but I’ve not used it. Also\u00a0Fotor<\/a>\u00a0looks neat. So does PicMonkey<\/a>.<\/p>\n

FREE VIDEO RECORDING AND EDITING SUITE<\/h1>\n

CamStudio<\/a> is able to record all screen and audio activity on your computer and create industry-standard AVI video files and can turn those AVIs into Streaming Flash videos (SWFs). Jing<\/a> is a sister tool that creates screen capture images and videos of up to 5min in length – very cool ‘cos it sits in your window ready to jump into action.<\/p>\n

Use video software to create demos, \u00a0frequently asked questions, tutorials, record a problem so technical support people ‘get it’,\u00a0create information products,\u00a0record techniques so you remember them, record procedures you follow and forget over time. Endless uses. And when you grow up you can get Camtasi<\/a>a\u00a0here<\/a> – it’s outstanding and can do way more.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

FREE GRAPHICS, IMAGES<\/h1>\n

There’s a difference between ‘free’ and ‘royalty free’. Free<\/em> means no cost to use; royalty free<\/em> gives you a right to use the image but you normally pay for that right.\u00a0ALWAYS\u00a0check the rights you have to use any image.<\/p>\n
