2012 Social Media Resolutions

New Year Resolutions – Social Media

Well here we are in mid-February and today I happened upon this site by posterous.com researching what people intend to do with their social media tools this year. Makes for interesting reading. Seems most folk are separating out their personal and other contacts to share differently with. Many are being a little more discreet (although not sure that’s universal seeing some of the messages lately!)  Finally, more people intend to dedicate less time to their social media interactions. Me? I’m on Twitter, Facebook , Linked in and Foursquare. The last one I got caught up in early – the competitive side of… Read More »New Year Resolutions – Social Media

    Contests and Giveaways – Tip

I have not ever offered a contest or competition or giveaway for people to attend one of my live programs. Nor had Danny from Firepole Marketing. Now he has for his upcoming program. I noticed how he did it and it was pretty normal. Email the offer and explanation to his list. Have a landing page for people to enter. Have a basic question to meet entry requirements. How Much Do You Repurpose Content?

I’ve just been going through my files and found a bunch of product I had created … and forgot about!

IN thinking about my content I also realised I pretty much don’t follow my own advice, embarrassingly enough.

When I reflect on what I produce I use it maybe one o three times each in different platforms. Usually it will be a blog post and maybe I’ll then repurpose that as a tweet or a Facebook post and perhaps a graphic for Pinterest.

My reflection also made me realise I’d abandoned my editorial calendar and had taken to spontaneous posting both in terms of content and timing.

        Not clever.

        Not recommended.

        Dumb.

So, I am starting to think about Angel reinstituting my editorial calendar as well as building into it a repurposing checklist. Of course, I won’t just think about it, I will schedule in to do it … soon!

        “I’m Going To Make Millions”

How many conversations have I had with start-ups and budding entrepreneurs who think they have the NBT (next big thing) that will slay Google and Facebook and make them millions in a minute? This short animated vid is a priceless commentary on the ‘idea virus’ that people get caught up in. No one wants to rain on your parade if you have a brilliant idea. Just make sure you have a clear and logical plan that will get people to your site and will increase their desire to buy. Just sayin’
