Free Image Resources

I have a thing about using free images which aren’t really “free”. When I’m in production-mode, it’s tempting to just do a quick web search for an image, snavel it and load it into the blog or eBook or brochure and make everything look whizz-bang. But unless you’ve bought or gained rights to use that image legitimately then, well, you’re stealing. And with the algorithms churning through online sites finding illegal use of images, you could be slapped on the wrists or worse, slapped with a writ. Ain’t nobody got the time or money for that! Way better to get… Read More »Free Image Resources

New Year Resolutions – Social Media

Well here we are in mid-February and today I happened upon this site by posterous.com researching what people intend to do with their social media tools this year. Makes for interesting reading. Seems most folk are separating out their personal and other contacts to share differently with. Many are being a little more discreet (although not sure that’s universal seeing some of the messages lately!)  Finally, more people intend to dedicate less time to their social media interactions. Me? I’m on Twitter, Facebook , Linked in and Foursquare. The last one I got caught up in early – the competitive side of… Read More »New Year Resolutions – Social Media

        Website Plugins and Performance

Today was one of those days. I planned to complete a project. Then I had a minor issue on a website. Then I started searching for a solution. That led me to making improvements to two of my websites. And absorbing about 4 hours of my time! I could have stopped and got back on plan. But that curiosity got me hooked in to working out a solution. So I checked me sites on GTMetrix – they give a great breakdown of what’s needed to improve your site performance with details of what to do – and it’s FREE! Product Review: Editorial Calendar App

So I have been checking out Editorial Calendars. Every now and then I need to regroup and be more organised. That means I need to look at the systems I use (assuming of course I’m using one!) and review how effective they are. I have a couple of editorial calendars on my desktop. The problem is these are not portable and often get out of date. I could load them into Dropbox or OneDrive or Evernote but I find I don’t work well that way. I also have an editorial calendar plugin on a couple of my websites which is… Read More »Product Review: Editorial Calendar App
